Many Haryana workshop owners run two or three branches in nearby towns. The hardest part is knowing what is happening in a branch you are not standing in.
Same process in every branch
Same job card, same prices for packages, same way of closing cash. Differences between branches cause most confusion.
A central store
Buy parts centrally and transfer them to branches. You get better rates and one person checks quality.
Look at three numbers every evening
- Vehicles delivered today and money received.
- Vehicles late past the promised time.
- Cash difference at closing, if any.
Give branch managers responsibility
Let each branch manager close cash and review the day. You check the summary, not every bill.
Visit with a purpose
When you visit a branch, look at the late jobs and the repeat repairs. They show where the branch needs help.
